What is now called Golden Turmeric Latte, Golden Sunshine or Golden Milk has as many variations and recipes as there are people who realize and acknowledge the value Haldi has as a natural immunity booster.
Some like to fashion it with almond milk or even soya milk. The old traditional, the one out of grandma’s cookbook, has always been with milk and ingredients found in every kitchen.
The way we do it is to bring a glass of milk to boil and then add ½ teaspoon of our Sufalaam Haldi powder, a pinch of cinnamon powder, some grated nutmeg and ½ teaspoon of black pepper powder. This can be had as is or with a tablespoon of Sufalaam Raw honey.
This makes for a very aromatic hot beverage that can be had in the mornings or before going to bed at night especially during the cooler months of the year.
This nutrient-packed drink has doses of iron, magnesium and potassium. Haldi is a well-known immunity booster with a multitude of health benefits. This common household kitchen ingredient has anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. Dubbed ‘The Golden Spice’, turmeric has been widely used in treating a variety of ailments from a sore throat, indigestion and arthritis too.
The main chemical compound in turmeric is curcumin and it is ‘activated’ by the compound ‘piperine’ which is found in pepper – that is the reason why haldi and pepper are used in conjunction in traditional concoctions and even in modern medicine.
