The tamarind tree is not native to India and was introduced from Africa thousands of years back. Over time, the medicinal properties and health benefits of the fruit have been recognized – it is rich in Vitamin B, Magnesium, Potassium and is also considered anti-diabetic – and it is widely used in Indian cooking and for polishing brass and copper.

The de-seeded tamarind fruit in this packet comes from old trees growing around fields and villages in the Bandipur area in Karnataka.  A pure and natural product, it is free of any chemicals or preservatives.
