The spice clove is the dried flower bud of the evergreen clove tree (Syzygium aromaticum) that grows well in the hilly tracts of the Western Ghats. Like our other spices, this one too comes from the KANJIRAPALLY ESTATE, which is situated at the height of 3500 feet bordering the Periyar Tiger Reserve in Kerala. On this estate, clove is not grown on a commercial scale and the one in this packet is from the kitchen gardens of the owners who have been running this family-owned business since 1960.
